Information about the series

Avatar: The Last Airbender was an American cartoon put on air by Nickelodeon. It was greatly influenced by anime and oriental culture, leaving some to mistake it for a Japanese anime, but it is American.

The setting is a made up world where four nations - Water, Earth, Fire, and Air - lived together in harmony until the Fire Nation attacked the Air Nomads and supposedly wiped them all out. One Air Nomad did survive, however, and was found by the Southern Water Tribe. Aang, the air nomad, is also an airbender - someone who can manipulate air currents. Katara, the water tribe girl who found him, is an amateur waterbender. The Fire Nation took all the other waterbenders in her tribe because of a prophecy. One person in the world, an Avatar, can master all four elements. Each generation, the Avatar is born into a different nation in a particular order - Fire, Air, Water, and Earth. Before the war broke out, the Fire Avatar was killed. The Fire Lord attacked the Air Nomads to prevent the Avatar from being reborn, but as it turns out the one air nomad they missed, Aang, is the Avatar.

In order to restore balance to the world, Aang must master all four elements and defeat the Fire Lord. Aang and Katara (along with her brother) journey to the Northern Water Tribe in search of a waterbender who can train them both, all the while being pursued by the banished Prince Zuko. Prince Zuko is heir to the Fire Nation throne but was banished by his father to return with the Avatar in hand. Zuko makes several failed attempts to do just that. After his sister, Princess Azula, supposedly killed the Avatar in the Earth Kingdom, Zuko finally returns home - but after three years, Zuko slowly comes to realize that home isn't the happy memory he'd held onto for so long. After a war meeting with his father, Zuko shocked to find that his father means to wipe out the Earth Kingdom. Zuko had spent years among the other nations and did not wish to see them wiped out.

Reluctantly, Zuko joins the Avatar and teaches him firebending, the last element he needs to learn before he can defeat the Fire Lord.

In the end, they do defeat the Fire Lord, and Zuko becomes the new Fire Lord with Avatar Aang by his side. At his coronation, he declares an end to the war and promises to help rebuild the four nations.

But what happens next? The series ended. The three seasons were named Book 1: Water, Book 2: Earth, and Book 3: Fire. Some think there should be a Book 4: Air, but there are no plans for one. In my stories, I plan to write my own version of Book 4 by trying to stay as true to the other three books as possible.
